State Rep. Brian BeGole recently paid tribute to Battalion Chief Michael Thornburg of the Owosso Charter Township Fire Department for his 51 years of service as he prepares to retire. Thornburg started his career at the department in 1972 and worked his way up from a firefighter to an assistant engineer, engineer, and assistant chief.
In a statement, Rep. BeGole expressed his appreciation for Chief Thornburg's dedication and contributions, saying, "The life-threatening tasks firefighters face demand courage, preparation, commitment, and knowledge. We are incredibly thankful for all that Chief Thornburg has provided in his service to our families and this community." BeGole also highlighted Thornburg's role in training hundreds of firefighters over the years, emphasizing the impact of his work on the safety and security of homes, businesses, and lives in the community.
Recognizing Thornburg's selflessness and service, Rep.
