There were 2,948 students enrolled in Owosso Public Schools in the 2022-23 school year, 0.5% more than the previous year, according to the Michigan Department of Education.

Of all the students welcomed in the 2022-23 school year, 50.4% of them were girls, and 49.6% were boys.

Data also shows that most of the students were white, representing 89.5% of the Owosso Public Schools total enrollment.

Owosso Public Schools covers six schools within Shiawassee County with its main office in Owosso. Among them, Owosso High School recorded the highest enrollment of 843 students in the 2022-23 school year.

Overall student enrollment in Michigan remains below pre-pandemic levels, white students experiencing the largest decline at 6.5%.

Academic performance has also suffered, with the state's average NAEP score dropping by 6.5 points and ethnic achievement gaps widening. Black and Hispanic students' average math proficiency dropped by 7% in 2022, to 13.5% and 28.2%, respectively.
