Here’s our Fantastic Friday Five to conclude the week with five points of pride. Have a great weekend and GO TROJANS!
1. Bryant Elementary students made cards last week for the Michigan State University Police Department. The department responded with: “We were able to decorate the station’s hallways with the amazing artwork provided by your students, and our officers wanted to jump in the picture to show their appreciation for you and all of the Owosso community!”
2. The Owosso High School Girls’ Varsity Basketball team takes on the Durand Railroaders in their quest for a district championship tomorrow at Flint Hamady High School. (This game was postponed from this evening due to the winter weather warning.) The game is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Saturday at Flint Hamady. This is a digital ticketing event, so please use this link to purchase your tickets in advance https://gofan.co/app/events/916670?schoolId=MI4334.
3. We have 5 students competing in MHSAA State Finals this weekend. Please join us in cheering on bowlers Lily Kelley, Zoie Brandt, and Camden Caswell and wrestlers Paige Heise and Hailee Hendry!
4. In our elementary schools, March is Reading Month is a month-long celebration of literacy, guest readers, and activities that inspire the love of reading! Today was Dr. Seuss Day at Central Elementary and we captured Thing 1, Thing 2, and Thing 3. Emerson Elementary welcomed Owosso-native author Julie Wenzlick. Mrs. Wenzlick spoke to second graders about her inspiration for the numerous children’s books that she has written.
5. Owosso is The District of Opportunities! The Lansing Concert Band traveled to Owosso this morning to perform for all fourth and fifth graders. “Emotions in Music” featured various musical pieces for our students to enjoy in our beautiful performing arts center. This was an excellent opportunity to showcase the musical opportunities that Owosso students can get involved in starting with fifth grade band.
