2. Emerson Elementary 4th graders in Mrs. Thornton’s class started a creative writing lesson focused on writing a listing for a haunted house. To provide real-world context, local realtor Kori Shook was a guest speaker to share the process she goes through when she writes a listing. She talked about the importance of appealing to the target audience using nouns and adjectives. She taught the class about a “call to action” and getting the reader to do something with the information, such as calling the realtor, visiting the house, or telling a friend. Mrs. Shook discussed professionalism and the importance of good grammar and spelling so buyers take you seriously. The students enjoyed her visit and are excited about this creative writing assignment!
