Notice: Gute Hill Standpipe Rehabilitation

Megaphone gd7b38fb34 1280

The City of Owosso will be starting the rehabilitation of the Standpipe located at Gute Hill on June 13, 2022. The Gute Hill Standpipe will be drained beginning on June 9, 2022. Our contractor will begin working on Monday, June 13, 2022, at 7am. The Contractor will be working from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. every week on Mondays through Saturdays. There will be additional noise levels from the equipment used by the contractors to complete the work. The noise level is restricted to remain under acceptable contract levels as measured at city property lines. We anticipate completion of this project and the return to normal operating conditions by August 31, 2022.

During this rehabilitation of our water storage tank, there may be some fluctuations in the water pressure on occasion. The water production at the Filtration Plant provides sufficient water while the tank is out of service. Before the tank is returned to service, bacteriological and volatile organic compound testing of the water will be completed. You will also notice a stabilization of water quality as this rehabilitation will include the installation of a mixer that will maintain consistent water chlorine residuals and reduce trihalomethanes for your protection and as required by state and federal regulations.

The city has posted an additional notice regarding this project for businesses as it relates to fire reserves and fire alarm systems. That information can be found: https://www.ci.owosso.mi.us/.../Notice-of-Standpipe-and...

If you have any questions, contact Tom Wheeler, Public Works Superintendent at 989-725-0556 between the hours of 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM, Monday – Friday.
