Ryan D. Kelley for Governor issued the following announcement on Feb. 17.
June of 2020. During the peak of the BLM/Antifa riots and country wide unrest, I held a rally at the Capitol to protest lockdowns and tyranny, and to support Constitutional Militias and our 2nd Amendment.
During my speech, BLM disrupted our event and laid on the ground in the middle of the crowd. Things escalated quickly, were very tense, confrontational, and on the brink of violence.
I quickly took control of the situation, bringing BLM to the side of the steps, and worked with my stage coordinator to keep the rally going while simultaneously confronting BLM.
The conversation was intense, very heated, but we did not back down.
The disruption ended with a handshake, and a level of UNITY that no one thought would happen.
While we didn’t agree, we respected each other. Then BLM left, and we continued our rally.
Michigan needs a Governor that can bring UNITY through respect, not by forcing compliance or beliefs on the other.
My ACTIONS speak louder than my words.
