City of Owosso issued the following announcement on Dec. 19.
On February 13, 2007, the Owosso Fire Department, along with several neighboring fire departments, responded to a large fire at the Lebowsky Center. The firefighters battled frigid temperatures with 30 mph winds. Over the next 24 hours, firefighters worked relentlessly to extinguish the fire while trying to salvage any equipment from the theatre.
Over the next seven years, the community came together to support the Lebowsky Center as they worked to restore the historic structure. Over the last 150 years, the Owosso Fire Department has worked tirelessly to protect our community and support them during times of need.
Six current members of the Owosso Fire Department responded to the Lebowsky Fire and continue to serve our community today- Pat Bradley, Rick Brewbaker, Steve Chapko, Todd Follen, Art Hart & Kent Platner.
Pictured inside the renovated Lebowsky Center are five members of Owosso Fire B shift: Steve Chapko, Matt Nowiski, Scott Fletcher, Collin Demankowski, and Erin O’Hara.
