Bridge Michigan recently published a list detailing not only the reopening plans for local school districts across the state, but how those plans will progress into the coming year, with the promise to continue updating the information as it changes.

While some of the districts listed have indicated they will begin the school year with all students attending virtually -- such as Bay City School District in Bay County, Birmingham Public Schools and Kalamazoo Public Schools -- there is significant variation in regard to how long those districts intend for that method to continue.

Birmingham Public Schools hasn’t given a projected date for when students will return to in-person instruction. In contrast, East Lansing Public Schools in Ingham County plans to remain virtual until at least Sept. 30, after which date the school board will decide whether to continue virtually or to phase in in-person instruction.

While many of the smaller districts are opting to permit families to choose between online or in-person education, on the other end of the spectrum, Cadillac Area Public Schools in Wexford County has chosen to return to in-person instruction five days a week.
