Licensing and Regulatory Affairs Michigan issued the following announcement on Aug. 7.
The Dept. of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) has summarily suspended and issued a notice of intent to revoke the child care family home license of Sheila Robbins – 43492 Barclay Way, Canton – for violations related to appropriate care and supervision.
LARA’s actions resulted from a July 30, 2020 complaint investigation conducted at the child care family home. The investigation found violations of the Child Care Organizations Act and administrative rules regarding caregiver suitability and the welfare of the children. LARA took emergency action to protect the health, welfare, and safety of children.
“We must ensure that our licensees are providing proper supervision and protection to the children under their care at all times,” said LARA Director Orlene Hawks. “If we ever find that to not be the case, our team will immediately step in to assure the children’s well-being, as we did here.”
Effective July 31, 2020, the summary suspension order prohibits Robbins from operating a child care family home at 43492 Barclay Way, Canton, or at any other address or location. Accordingly, she may not accept children for care after that date and time. The order also requires the licensee to inform all parents of children in her care that the license has been suspended and that she can no longer provide child care.
