On primary election day, March 10, voters will be asked to decide on four key issues that will appear on the ballot in Shiawassee County, according to WILX10.
Voters will be considering a ballot proposal of 1.65 mills for 10 years to subsidize fire and ambulance services in Durand. Another ballot question will seek a 20-year levy of 2.5689 mills for a street improvement bond for Owosso. In Chesaning, meanwhile, voters are being asked to approve increasing funding by .75 mills in the sinking fund millage for five years for the Chesaning Union Schools. "In Michigan, a sinking fund is a millage levied to support school safety improvements, technology improvements and the repair and construction of school buildings," according to Escabana Area Public Schools.
New Haven Township officials want voters to say yes to adding .333 mills for four years to the transportation millage for the purpose of reducing Shiawassee Area Transportation Agency rates.
