Couple says parked car was damaged by Shiawassee snow plow, seeks compensation

Md zu720kla0nej

An Owosso family says their parked vehicle was damaged by a Shiawassee County snow plow in November and is seeking reimbursement.

Amanda Walker said she contacted the road commission the day of the incident and two days later was told an insurance claim had been filed. Still, weeks passed and Walker and Erick Veith heard nothing.

“The road commission actually got upset with us from calling them so much (they) started to be a little rude so we started to be rude, and they basically told us, ‘Do not call us back. We’re going to file harassment charges if you call us back,'" Walker told WILX.

Most recently Walker and Veith said they got word from the road commission’s insurance company informing the couple that their claim can’t be considered because of governmental immunity.

“Now the wife can’t get back to work, we don’t have a vehicle … don’t have means to get a new vehicle,” Veith told WILX.
